Aeons
Aeons are creatures that are spirts of great warriors but in the form of beasts. You get aeons from praying at the different temples all over Spira, here are the different aeons, their descriptions, and where to get them:

What is a Summoner? A summoner is a person who is commited to defeat Sin, when you want to become a summoner you have to pass the Chamber of Fayth which is where you pray until The Fayth thinks that you are worthy enough to be a summoner(you usually pray for at least a day). How does a summoner attack you ask? By using aeons which are creatures that summoners can summon to fight for them. Summoners can also cure anyone they want.Unfortunaltly, when a summoner summons the final aeon to deafet Sin he/she dies. That is what a summoner is entitled to do.

White Magic Not only can summoners use aeons for offence but they use white magic for defence. One of the white magic abilitys that summoners use are the cure abilitys(cure,cura,curaga), they heal party members from damage. There are also the Nul spells which make any party member immune to a certain magic attack(Nulbalze,shock,frost,tide).
